This week I have been practicing "spanish romance". It;s only the first part and I have an issue when it comes to pressing down the entire 7th fret. I've realized better holding position, that is to hold the fret slantingly. I have not perfect it because it takes time. Since taking this gem, I really appreciate the lessons and guidance from James. I'll definitely continue my plucking in the future :)
Finally, the test on silver bells is over. Now, I have to deal with the final song piece. Alvin and I pick "Spanish Romance". I find it difficult to pluck with 3 fingers in that score and it's really no time to master the entire song. Fortunately, we are only expected to play till half of the song and hopefully I can complete my practice on that part.
During the holidays, I have been practising the "silver bells" and I discovered that sometimes I am confused with the alternating finger positions after plucking the first verse. The second verse, I've got my fingers position wrong. Fortunately, the positions are indicated on the score. This helps me to practise better but I still need some time get used of that play.
Well, it's a blink of an eye and 4 lessons of classical guitar has passed. I am now able to pluck the basic notes for the first 4 strings. Being a beginner, it's been a challenge to master even the notes for the first 4 strings. Now, we have completed the first set of notes. The new challenge now is to master the scale note given by instructor Ang. Hope I can further improve this week.
The lesson last week, we learnt more basic musical notes and are expected to play by side-reading. This is where I being a beginner, face the first difficulty in plucking the notes correctly & alternatively. I have decided to place some time to practise side-reading so that i can further play it correctly with alternating I & M. It takes time and effort especially at such a tight schedule I am going through this semester.
Last friday which is 14th April, we have introduction to the basics of guitar plucking. I am really glad to grab a seat in this module. Free guitar lesson, nothing you can ask for more! We've learnt proper posture, 2 types of alternating finger plucking for I & M and names of major parts of guitar. It's interesting that sand paper is used to fine our finger nails to produce better tunes and there's a method to use it. What's next? I'm really looking forward to it.
